MOVIE REQUESTS – Adam Conover Requests TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. (1985)

Hello, and welcome to the 13th episode of Movie Requests! This is the series where I take film suggestions from your favorite stars and review those movies for your entertainment!

As a reminder, you can watch these episodes here on Flicknerd.com, but they are also available on YouTube! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel that way you can see new episodes of Movie Requests as soon as they drop!

So far, throughout the series, we’ve had mostly positive film-watching experiences. We’ve only had two films that I gave a negative score including “The Goonies,” requested by Sandi Harding. The other one was reviewed in the most recent episode of the series, “Gringo.” Joe Gatto of “Impractical Jokers” fame picked that one. That one hurt to do, because I love Joe Gatto so much, but as I said in my review, he has probably been through a lot worse when he was on “Impractical Jokers.”

Speaking of Joe Gatto, today’s guest also starred in a popular show that ran for multiple seasons on truTV, “Adam Ruins Everything.” His name is Adam Conover!

In addition to reminding the masses about common misconceptions, Adam Conover is also the host of the Nickelodeon game show “The Crystal Maze.” He lent his voice to several episodes of “BoJack Horseman.” He is the host of the podcast “Factually! with Adam Conover,” which can be found on multiple platforms, as well as his personal YouTube channel. That channel is also home to a series of excellent long-form videos. When he is not on people’s screens, he is doing stand-up comedy. You can catch Conover on tour and buy tickets through his website. I also recommend his comedy special “Unmedicated,” which is on Dropout and Conover’s YouTube channel. Also, check out Conover’s brand new special “Big Divorce Energy,” now available exclusively on his YouTube channel.

For today’s review, Adam Conover suggested I should watch “To Live and Die in L.A.”, which I had not seen prior to his recommendation. According to Conover, the William Friedkin-directed crime thriller “To Live and Die in L.A.” has “really great blood and guts” as well as a “great soundtrack.” This is also the latest film from 1985 to be featured in the series. Other guests throughout the series suggested I should watch “Real Genius,” “The Goonies,” and “Legend,” all released in the same year. I cannot to see how this film compares to those.

As a reminder, this is the 13th episode of Movie Requests. We have TWO episodes left until the series is over. I am not going to cry about that, instead I am going to smile because the 15 people who agreed to be in this series made it happen, so I am eternally thankful! Also, look forward to seeing another review featuring one of those 15 superstars later this month, Tessa Thompson!
