Hey everyone, Jack Drees here! If you are disappointed because awards season is over, then you clearly do not know Jack about what is coming around the corner! It is almost time for the 7th Annual Jack Awards, as well as to celebrate the 2024 slate of cinema. For those new around here, the Jack Awards is a tradition going back to 2019, back when it was called the Jackoff Awards. If you think that name sounds weird, you are not alone. The show recognizes the feature-length, theatrically released films that resonated with people, especially yours truly, over the past year. One thing to note is that I have not seen every movie that came out in 2024. As much as I have wanted to check out “Hundreds of Beavers,” I have not had any time to do so before the listing of these nominations. I also missed out on other critically praised titles like “Emilia Perez,” “Queer,” and “September 5.” Another core rule on the Jack Awards is that the films must have played in theaters. No straight to streaming, cable, or DVD releases will be accepted. The show will also honor two people with Lifetime Achievement Awards. For someone who is still alive, they will receive the Roger Deakins Award, named after the acclaimed cinematographer. For someone who passed away this year, their legacy will be honored with the Stan Lee Award, named after the Marvel Comics creator and arguably the most prominent cameo actor of the century. Those winners will be revealed during the ceremony.
With that said, it is time to reveal the nominees for the 7th Annual Jack Awards!
